Summary

A stone hall, said to belong to Peter the Clerk in the 14th century, was recorded on the corner of Castle Street and Bridge Street. The hall comprised a substantial mansion with hall, undercrofts and stables. Following his death, the hall passed to his descendents – the Thornton family.

A stone hall, said to belong to Peter the Clerk in the 14th century, was recorded on the corner of Castle Street and Bridge Street. The hall comprised a substantial mansion with hall, undercrofts and stables. Following his death, the hall passed to his descendents – the Thornton family.
