Summary

The Dee Mills were converted into an early hydro-electric station in the early 20th century. The station opened in 1913 providing 40% of the city’s electricity supply, however, the rapid increase in demand meant that by 1946 it was providing a mere 2% and the station closed in 1951. The station was subsequently converted into a water pumping station.
