Full Description
Archaeological investigations on the north side of Foregate Street in 1977-1979 recorded evidence of a timber lined pit of a possible medieval date.
The evidence comprised a series of vertical posts in stanchion hole D6 on the eastern side of the development area. Although the extent of the evaluation was limited, a single sherd of 14th century pottery was recovered from the fill of the pit and has suggested a tentative date of activity in the medieval period.
