Summary

Archaeological investigations in the form of a watching brief of several small geotechnical pits to the rear of Commerce House in 2007 identified a layer containing quantities of Roman concrete indicating a probable Roman floor. A possible robber trench was also identified.

Geotechnical test pit excavated in an area of uncertain activity within the fortress with only isolated fragments of walls and surfaces recorded.

Archaeological investigations in the form of a watching brief of several small geotechnical pits to the rear of Commerce House in 2007 identified a layer containing quantities of Roman concrete in trenches 23 and 24 indicating a probable Roman floor. A possible robber trench [context 18] was also identified in trench 24.
