Full Description

This is a Methodist New Connexion Chapel in Shocklach, the chapel opened in 1891 (1) and closed in c. 2003 (2). In late 2012 the chapel received planning permission and was sold to be converted into a dwelling (3).

The buildings is Victorian and "of red brick construction with a pitched roof covered in natural slate finished with a red coloured decorative ridge tile and vent and finial detailing. A modern concrete sectional building has been erected to the rear of the building" (2). Shocklach Chapel is also described as a spite chapel meaning that it was "deliberately built next to an Anglican Rectory to make a point" (1).

The chapel appears on second and third edition OS Mapping of 1898 (4) and 1911 (5) respectively.
