Full Description
Evidence of Roman features were recorded during building clearance at No 79 Foregate Street in 1956. The evidence comprised a trample layer containing late first to second century AD pottery and come charcoal, and some roughly constructed walls (1, 2).

Salvage recording carried out on a site on the north side of Foregate Street some 228m from the Eastgate (No 79 Foregate Street) identified several Roman features including a trampled surface containing charcoal, animal bone and early Flavian pottery as well as several roughly constructed walls. No further details are available, however.
