Summary

Archaeological investigations at St John Street in 1988-89 identified possible traces of pre Roman cultivation soils beneath the earth rampart. The evidence comprised a thin layer beneath the rampart containing several slight depressions and striations that may represent cultivation marks. However, it was stressed by the excavator that the evidence was identified in a single test pit.

Archaeological investigations at St John Street in 1988-89 identified possible traces of pre Roman cultivation soils beneath the earth rampart.
