Summary

Medieval cess pit recorded during archaeological observations in 1961-62 during the construction of a new building to the east of Newgate Street. The pit was cut some distance to the west of a later sandstone cellar and appeared to contain quantities of thick, dark organic material. Medieval ridge tile was also recovered from the fill of the pit.

Medieval cess pit recorded during archaeological observations in 1961-62 during the construction of a new building to the east of Newgate Street. The pit was cut some distance to the west of a later sandstone cellar and appeared to contain quantities of thick, dark organic material. Medieval ridge tile was also recovered from the fill of the pit.
