Summary
A substantial masonry arch was recorded below the present ground level to the rear of the Pied Bull in 1997. It was not possible to further investigate the feature, however, and it's purpose and date is uncertain.

A masonry arch of uncertain date and extent was recorded to the rear of the Pied Bull on Northgate Street in 1997. The arch was a substantial structure recorded approximately 1.1m beneath the present ground level, however, the limited nature of the excavation precluded any further investigation into this feature.
