Monument record 11314 - Skinner's Lane

The medieval portion of Skinner's Lane extended from the southern end of Lower Bridge St., to where the old Ship Gate had been located in the City Wall, a short distance along (1, 2). By the time Lavaux's plan appeared in the mid-eighteenth century, the roadway extended west to the south-west corner of the city wall, and an area of housing had built up between the wall and the river along this route (5).
