Full Description
33 - 49 (odd numbers) St Werburgh Row and Clemence House (49a), are a range of shops, offices and commercial premises facing Chester Cathedral. Built in 1935, as inscribed on a date stone, the buildings range from three storeys in the central portion, to two storeys in the north. They are of rendered brick, yellow sandstone, granite, and reinforced concrete with Westmorland green slate roofs (1). A recessed fourteen-bay colonnade to the front has slightly fluted Roman Doric columns of pebbly concrete on plain square plinths (1).
