Heritage assessment produced in 2022 for Chorlton Hall and its immediate surroundings. The earliest map depiction of the hall appears to be an estate plan dating to 1805. A set of buildings are depicted to the west of the main house which probably would have been stables. These structures were demolished in the period between 1805 and 1837 to make way for the tree lined avenue created for the approach to the main house. The listed stables and cottages standing to the east of the house today are not depicted on the 1805 plan; they first appear on the 1837 tithe map. Given that the stables were constructed during the period from 1805 to 1837, the internal detailing is stylistically synonymous with this date. The door surround inscribed ‘in the lifetime of George Manwaringe c166O' could have been moved from the main house to the stables, potentially replaced with a more contemporary design.
