Full Description
Archaeological monitoring carried out during refurbishment works at the Roman Gardens revealed possible evidence of the medieval defensive ditch (CHER 12001/3) along the eastern length of the city walls. The linear feature was identified in Trench 2 running north – south at a depth of 0.8m below ground level. Although not fully excavated, the feature was filled with a (presumably) later post medieval fill (this monument) (1).
