Full Description
A children’s home was built on the Wrexham Road in the early part of the 20th century, it was first recorded on the Ordnance Survey third edition (c.1910-1915) built by the Chester Union workhouse. The building has since been converted into two semi-detached private dwellings. (1)
The children's home was built in the Edwardian style in red brick with a red tile roof. The facade is almost symmetrical; the southern half comprising two high rounded parapets with blue brick diapering at roof level above a two and a half bay facade with five Georgian style windows at first floor level, at ground floor level there are two Georgian windows and a bay window. It is separated from the northern half by a half bay width with a Georgian style round headed window at first floor level and a smaller window at ground floor level. The northern half comprises two high rounded parapets with blue brick diapering at roof level above a two and a half bay facade with six Georgian style windows at first floor level and five at ground floor level.
