Summary
Archaeological investigations in Chester as part of a prolonged programme of gas pipe installation between 2009 and 2012 identified the remains of a post medieval pit 1.7m wide and 0.8m deep containing a dark black clinker rich silty-sand. The pit was truncated by the modern road surface.
