Summary

A British National School was built at St Mary's Hill in 1846. It continued to function as a primary school until 1972. It is currently in use as a nursery school. British National Schools were set up in the nineteenth century to provide elementary education to poor children following the teachings of the Church of England, they charged a small fee.

Full Description
