Summary

St James’ Church was built in 1873 as part of the Chester Union Workhouse on Hoole Lane. The church included a graveyard. In 1930 the workhouse became a hospital with St James’ remaining as a chapel. Following the closure of the hospital the chapel has remained on Hoole Lane.
