Full Description
A national school is first recorded on the Ordnance Survey First Edition map from the 1880s on Westminster Street, Moor Park. Although the building was still present on the Second Edition map from c.1900 it had been demolished by 1915.
National Schools were founded in the 19th century by the National Society for Promoting Religious Education. They provided education to young children following the teaching of the Church of England. Although they were aimed at the poor, a nominal fee for tuition was also expected.
