Full Description
A rope walk is recorded to the rear of Pycroft Street on 19th century maps. It consisted of a long narrow building approximately 70m in length. (1)
It continued to be recorded on early 20th century maps, however, by the 1960s it had either been replaced by a long range of smaller structures or significantly altered. (2)
Rope making had been established on Overleigh Road in the early 19th century and the Rope Walk was constructed in 1810. (3)
