Summary

Congregational Chapel which opened in 1893 on Gorse Street in Chester. Ordnance survey mapping shows that between 1899 and 1911 the chapel convered to Welsh Baptist. The chapel has subsequently closed and is currently awaiting disposal.

Full Description

Congregational Chapel opened in 1894 on Gorse Street in Chester for Welsh Congregation formerly from Back Brook Street (CHER 7070). It was later sold to the Welsh Baptists in 1898; the chapel has subsequently closed and is currently awaiting disposal (1).

First edition OS Mapping of 1874 shows that there is no chapel on the site (2). The chapel is present on second edition OS Maps of 1899 and is referred to a Congressional Chapel (3). On the third edition OS Map of 1911 refers to the chapel as Welsh Baptist (4).
