Full Description
Archaeological investigations at the site of the Roodee Workhouse encountered traces of a small dock to the south west of the workhouse.
The evidence consisted of a small portion of sandstone block wall excavated to a depth of 1.8m below present ground level with associated walkway and timber posts located within a narrow inlet first recorded in the late 18th century. The dock may have been associated with the iron foundry with map evidence indicating a path between the two sites. (1)
