Summary

Archaeological investigations at the former Observer Works on Commonhall Street in 1988 identified several features of a medieval date. The evidence consisted of a the south east corner of a stone building, believed to be 13th-14th century in date, and an earlier kiln immediately to the east. The kiln was approximately 2m in diameter and may have been used for malting.

Archaeological investigations at the former Observer Works on Commonhall Street in 1988 identified several features of a medieval date.

The evidence consisted of a the south east corner of a stone building, believed to be 13th-14th century in date, and an earlier kiln immediately to the east. The kiln was approximately 2m in diameter and may have been used for malting. (1)
