Building record 7063/2 - New Connexion Methodist Chapel in Aldford

This is the site of a New Connexion Methodist Chapel which opened in 1891 in the village of Aldford; the chapel was closed in 1979 and has subsequently been converted into a dwelling (1).

The second and third edition OS Maps shows that in 1898 - 1899 and 1911 respectively a chapel did occupy the plot (2), (3).

Prior to the construction of this building a previous chapel did exist within the surrounding location (4) however this is not present on the second edition OS Maps suggesting that the chapel was built as a replacement (see CHER 7063/1) (5).
