Summary

Historic mapping shows that a Chapel has been at this location from around 1840. First edition ordnance survey mapping shows a New Connexion Methodist chapel at the site from the late nineteenth century, however it is not present on the subsequent second edition ordnance survey map in 1898-99.

Full Description

This is the site of a former New Connexion Methodist Chapel that opened in 1883 in the village of Aldford; the chapel was closed by 1891 and was subsequently re-built on a different site (1).

The Tithe Map for Aldford of 1840 states that a chapel occupied this plot (2). First edition OS Map of 1874 shows a Methodist Chapel (New Connexion) at this location (3), however this is not present on the subsequent second edition OS Map (4).

It is clear from the historic mapping that a chapel has been at this location from around 1840 (5).
