Full Description
Edgar’s Field is a public park designed in the late 19th century at the expense of the first Duke of Westminster who presented the park to the City along with an endowment for its upkeep. The original design was simple with a path crossing the field in front of Minerva’s shrine and a rope walk near the river bank. By the mid 20th century a number of additional paths and landscaping had been added. (1)
The boundary wall tgo Edgar's Park is marked with a large 'H' identifying a fire hydrant. This dates to the Second World War. (2)
