Summary

A possible barn at backford hall. Brick built with a sloping slate roof. The latter is probabley a later alteration. The tallest elevation (west) has one apature and one smaller one with modern concrete lintels. There is one pitching hole and one doorway on this side. The shorter eleveation (east) incorporates the sandstone boundary wall to Backford Hall.

Full Description

A possible barn at backford hall. Brick built with a sloping slate roof. The latter is probabley a later alteration. The tallest elevation (west) has one apature and one smaller one with modern concrete lintels. There is one pitching hole and one doorway on this side. The shorter eleveation (east) incorporates the sandstone boundary wall to Backford Hall. Three cast or wrought iron straps run laterally through the building (1).

Depicted on the tithe map with a number of small structures to the north. The award records the building with plots 108 and 109 and described as building and garden. The are occupied by William Mason and owned by Birkenhead Glegg. These plots have interesting names; Thomas Hughes Dwelling and Garden and Smauel Lewis Dwelling and Garden respectively (2).

Cast iron window (from western elevation) has been removed (3).
