Full Description
Rubbish deposits containing finds of fifteenth to sixteenth century date were recorded as a secondary fill in a rock-cut feature that was thought to date to the Roman period (CHER 8104), during an archaeological evaluation (in Trench 1) at the corner of The Groves and Souter’s Lane, Chester, in 2007. The rock cut feature may have been a drainage channel, but these later medieval finds confirm it was used as a rubbish dump at that time (1).
