Full Description

The evaluation of six trial trenches located in the car park to the east and south-east of Dee House, Chester revealed evidence for the use of the area as a garden during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, both before and after the construction of Dee House. This consisted largely of garden soils and of features associated with gardening practices (later nineteenth century greenhouses on the site are not included in this monument) (1). Two animal burials, one of a cat and one of a dog, were also found (1).
