During excavations at the site of the former Ursiline Convent in 1929, when the remains of the Roman amphitheatre were uncovered, a number of medieval finds were recovered from what were described as disturbed contexts.

Full Description

During excavations at the site of the former Ursiline Convent in 1929, when the remains of the Roman amphitheatre were uncovered, a number of medieval finds were recovered from what were described as disturbed, later contexts (1). Collectively, the assemblage dated to between the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, and included an iron knife, floor tiles, a groat of Edward III and a Nuremburg counter bearing the emblem of St Mark (1, 2).
