Summary
Archaeological investigations at the site of the Leadworks complex prior to its redevelopment identified evidence of tanning activity in the south western part of the site close to the canal. The evidence consisted of a feature interpreted as a possible ditch containing fills suggestive of tanning and iron working in the area.
