Summary

St Paul's National School formed a joint venture of boys, girls and infants schools. It is recorded on late 19th to early 20th century maps but was demolished in the 1960s to make way for modern redevelopment. British National Schools were set up in the 19th century to provide elementary education to poor children following the teachings of the Church of England, they charged a small fee.

Full Description

St Paul's National School formed a joint venture of boys, girls and infants schools. It is recorded on late 19th to early 20th century maps but was demolished in the 1960s to make way for modern redevelopment. (1-4)

During the Second World War the school was used as a first aid post and air raid shelters were added in 1939. (5)
