Full Description

Historic maps record a small waterworks on Barrelwell Lane. The wateworks consisted of a boiler house and engine house adjacent to the river Dee.

The Barrelwell waterworks was opened in 1828 to provide water to the city, in 1867 adding a water tower to provide sufficient pressure for the flow of water from Huntingdon Brook to reach the site. (6)

This map depsicts a well adjcent to the river. To its immeditae north-east is the Engine House, with the boiler house to the immediate north-east. A possible circular chiment is depicted on the immediate south-eastern side of the engine house
