Summary

No 1-5 Christleton Road consists of four shops and living accommodation above, built 1898-900 by John Douglas as the architect and owner. They are of squared irregular blocks of red sandstone rubble with timber framing and plaster panels above and grey green slate roof. They are three storeys high to the prominent street corner with two storey wings to Christleton and Tarvin Road. The three storey corner element has five faces with a canted end to the corner. The ground floor is stone with jettied timber framing to the first and second floors. The two storey wing to Christleton Road has some 20th century replacement shop windows with only the stone piers visible of the original design and herringbone strutted small framing to the first floor. The projecting wing to Tarvin Road also has a replaced shop front and herringbone strutted framing to the first floor. The gable end is jettied.
