Full Description
The Presbyterian Church on City Road, built 1864 by Michael Gummow, consists of an Ionic front with a full height four column portico, stuccoed front and brick sides and rear. The listing includes the plain cast iron railing to the forecourt and three pairs of iron gates. The adjacent Sunday school was added in 1880, now used as an architect’s office is of rock faced coursed yellow sandstone with a grey slate roof. Built in the Classical style it is two storeys high and one bay width. A stone plaque by door inscribed "THIS MEMORIAL STONE WAS LAID BY MISS WALKER ABBEY GREEN CHESTER JUNE 16 1880 THE SUNDAY SCHOOL CENTENARY YEAR". (1)
