Summary

During rescue excavations in the garden of 1 Abbey Green, beginning in 1975, the presence of a stone-lined pit of medieval date was recorded.

Full Description

During rescue excavations in the garden of 1 Abbey Green, beginning in 1975, the presence of a stone-lined pit of medieval date was recorded (6). The pit cut into a Roman building, removing any internal deposits there. While the Roman and Saxon period remains from this site are well published, this is the only information available on this medieval feature (1 - 6) .
