Full Description
No 57 Northgate Street is a 17th century inn, known as the Pied Bull Inn, built on the site of two former medieval tenements. There has been some alteration in the 19th century.
It is three storeys with a sandstone cellar below, the ground floor is of sandstone and two upper floors of brown brick with Flemish bond and some timber framing in the interior. There is an arcade over Northgate Street with three segmental arches of stone. The roof is of two parallel ridge with gable ends on the street frontage.
There is a 17th century stone fireplace in the front room, oak staircase and some perhaps earlier, 16th century, panelling on the first floor. (1)
