Full Description
Traces of a medieval crypt, or undercroft, was recorded beneath No 25-27 Bridge Street in 1901. The work involved the excavation of an underground passage beneath Mr Webster’s shop to the offices of the Chester Chronicle to the rear of the property during which time portions of a crypt with a small 14th century doorway were exposed along with several encaustic ‘ecclesiastical tiles’. The remains were removed, however. (1).
