Summary

In 1773, following its use as a Common Hall (CHER 10685), the building that had previously been the Chapel of St Nicholas (CHER 10640/15) became the New Theatre, later becoming a music hall, and most recently being used for shops. It was converted to a concert hall by James Harrison between 1854 -1855 and in the present century it has been used as a cinema, and various shops. Full Description

In 1773, following its use as a Common Hall (CHER 10685), the building that had previously been the Chapel of St Nicholas (CHER 10640/15) became the New Theatre, later becoming a music hall, and most recently being used for shops. It was converted to a concert hall by James Harrison between 1854 -1855 and in the present century it has been used as a cinema, and various shops (5).
