Full Description
During rescue excavations in the garden of 1 Abbey Green, beginning in 1975, the presence of pits filled with masons' waste dating to the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries was recorded (2). The pits were identified on the turf rampart, and attest to the extensive repairs of the city walls at that time.
While the Roman and Saxon period remains from this site are well published, this is the only information available on these post medieval features (1, 2, 3).
