Full Description
No 17 Eastgate Street is a stone undercroft divided into a front and rear section, now in use as a shop, originally dating to the medieval period, it has been heavily altered in the 17th century.
The street frontage is modern while the interior consists of a front section entirely covered up with a segmental barrel vault over of possible 18th century date with evidence of regular sandstone blocks to the rear of medieval date. The rear part of the undercroft now consists of four chambers with three of a medieval date. (1)
