Full Description
No 2 Watergate Street Row consists of a three storey timber framed town house at Row level, currently used as the Victoria public house. The Row building appears to be 17th century in origin.
The street frontage is brick in Flemish bond with a whitewashed render, to the rear the grey slate pitched roof of the building appears similar to other properties along the Row of a 16th-17th century date with a modern street frontage.
Although the internal survey of the Row building was limited, a two panel 17th-18th century door was noted at the head of the east staircase. A corner fireplace in the rear corner of the west front room and an adjoining altered chimney breast in the rear corner of the front east room are also mid 18th century. The Row level walkway contains two Tuscan columns supporting the upper storeys and a plain iron railing at the front.
