Summary

The Grade II listed property at 83 Stanley St. (Stanley Palace), was built as a town house between 1591 and 1596 by Sir Peter Warburton and via a dowry to his daughter, the Stanley family. Not all of the original building survives; the south-west wing was re-built in the early eighteenth century, and the north wing was rebuilt just before World War II. The building, in its current form, is of timber frame with plaster panels, and brick, with a slate roof. The building is no longer used as a home, but is now a meeting hall and office space.
