Full Description
Two buildings, no longer extant, that are labelled with 'Smithy' appear on Linen Hall St., on the 1871-3 town plan of Chester, but not on the earlier plan of de Lavaux (1745) (1, 2). The northernmost one appears to have been where Nicholas St. now is, east of approximately where the centre of the Linen Hall footprint was. The southern most, was closer to the intersection with Watergate St. Both buildings still appear on the 1910 OS 3rd edition mapping (3).
