Full Description
Evidence for late post medieval structural activity was recorded during archaeological investigations at 54-60 Foregate Street in 2009.
Area 4 of the excavations encountered a series of deposits believed to represent the tenement housing recorded at White Horse Yard on the 19th century Ordnance Survey Town Plans. The evidence consisted of two sandstone foundations [407, 414] a possible pit or post hole [439] and a deposits of cinders [409]. Other features recorded in the same area but of uncertain date or function included a post hole [430] cutting a brick alignment [411] and an earlier curvilinear feature [435]. (1)
