Full Description
Traces of possible medieval features were encountered during archaeological investigations to the rear of the Coach and Horses, Northgate Street in 2007.
The evidence consisted of a wall [feature 304] and a buried soil [context 305] containing mixed Roman and medieval finds from trench 3 tentatively interpreted as medieval in date. In Area 7 a second wall of possible medieval date was identified underlying later 18th century features. The evidence was at present, too fragmented to interpret however. (1)
