Full Description
Gaol's Fields, now Bedward Row, was a laneway created in between the Royal Infirmary and the City Gaol, at some time after the construction of the gaol in 1807 (5). Although it does not appear on Lavaux's 1745 plan of the city, Dodgson refers to this as having been previously called Dog Lane or Parson's Lane (1). It appears as Gaol's Fields on OS First Edition mapping (2, 5).
