Full Description
Archaeological investigations at Linenhall Street in 1961 identified traces of a 19th century brick floor. The investigations were carried out by F.H. Thompson and D.F. Petch primarily with the aim of identifying the Roman defences however a substantial amount of medieval and post medieval features were also identified.
The evidence consisted of a substantial area of brick floor some 3.35m wide towards the centre of Trench 1 overlying the inner edge of the Roman defensive ditch. (1)
