Full Description
Archaeological investigations at Linenhall Street in 1961 identified a number of post medieval pits. The investigations were carried out by F.H. Thompson and D.F. Petch primarily with the aim of identifying the Roman defences however a substantial amount of medieval and post medieval features were also identified.
The evidence comprised a single pit excavated in the north west corner of trench 12 from which a substantial assemblage of early 18th century pottery including combed Staffordshire slipware, Delft and brown glazed wares as well as quantities of glass from sack bottles. (1).
