Full Description

Following the 1964 excavation at the site of the former St Mary's Benedictine Nunnery, construction of the former police headquarters buildings began, and contractors found additional decorated medieval tile fragments in the spoil and in unstratified contexts (1, 2). The nature of these particular tiles is not described in any detail, and because they cannot be associated with one particular element of the priory, they are considered an independent findspot record.
