Please read our .

Summary

Overlying the extensive medieval and post medieval remains identified during the 1998 excavations at the Royal Infirmary site was an extensive deposit of sediment, with occasional areas of rubble, containing post medieval finds. The nature of this deposit is difficult to determine, and it was severely truncated in most locations by activities associated with the construction of the Infirmary and Fever Hospital. In the northern part of the site (i.e. far from the hospitals), the deposit was primarily soil, possibly accumulated through garden or agricultural activities.
